The College of Marin put on its first ever graphic design show in March of 2025. I volunteered for and was selected to design the branding for the exhibit. This included the title, "Breakout", and the visual branding for the posters, banners, and fliers that would promote the exhibit.
I originated the name of the show ("Breakout") through a chatGPT brainstorming session. I wanted to capture the idea that the show featured up and coming designers, while also being the first ever such show for the College of Marin graphic design program. The show was thus a "Breakout" for both the participants and the department. In terms of style, I knew from the beginning I wanted something heavy with geometric typography, inspired by midcentury swiss graphic design and its offshoots. Below is a shot of my finalized branding in situ.

Preliminary sketches showing the evolution of my ideas for the show. Before going into the digital drafting, I wanted to finalize the exhibit title and start to concept the design style for the show.
I started concepting my branding by creating a series of banners (see above). The primary deliverable would be a set of vertical banners flanking the entrance to the exhibit gallery. The 24" x 90" dimensions of the banner presented a compositional challenge challenge for my flexible design system. The client and I decided on a final design using a large geometric font with a simple color pallete of black, white, and red.
The final design can be seen below:
